Message from The Head Coach and GM

Wow!

My wife, Vicki, and I recently went and experienced the Body Worlds exhibit at our local museum.

All I can think of to describe this adventure is ... Wow!

If you haven't seen it yet, I'd seriously encourage you to go.  Besides it being incredibly fascinating (it will have you marveling at the human body), you're certain to contemplate your fate and purpose in life.  It did for me anyway.

At the very least, it will make you wonder why you're doing what you're doing - as opposed to "Why do I have to do this?"

Do you ever just stop and ask how you're doing, and how you're going to get done what you want to accomplish in this world?

I'm not talking about "How on earth will I ever get this done?" I'm talking about just asking "how" and then following the answer you hear. Try it. It works.

There are a lot of things I want to do.

What do you want to do?

The World Doesn't Revolve Around You:  Eliminating Limiting Beliefs

Today's Feature

When I get up in the morning I put on a special set of glasses.  These glasses can't be found at any optometrist shop.  There is only one pair like them in the whole world.  You see, I put on David-Colored glasses each morning and look at life through them.  I'm not alone.

Each of you also wear a pair of Robert-Colored, Joan-Colored, Betty-Colored, YourNameHere-Colored glasses.  You form your opinions and views of reality based on your past experiences, upbringing, and conditions around you.  We all have a different view of reality which represents our viewpoint on life. Mine might be a valid viewpoint for me, but it may not be how you view reality.

The good thing about my perspective is that, while I realize it is how I view life, I also understand that it is not how you might live your life.  I accept your beliefs and your reality and understand that there are multitudes of ways we can look at a situation.  The problem is that some of us have limiting beliefs.  We think that our reality is the only reality - and anyone who thinks different is wrong.  We conflict with others because we aren't opening up ourselves to be accepting of other people's beliefs.  We are limiting ourselves, and even our opportunities in life, because of these ideas.

How do we eliminate these limiting beliefs?  It starts by realizing that everyone is different.  While we may agree on some issues, chances are nobody agrees completely with everything that you believe in.  We have to understand that there is always more than one way to solve the problem, and no matter how valid we might think our solution is, we should always be open to listening to the ideas of others and realizing that sometimes their solution may be a better fit for our problem.  Better yet, sometimes we have to come together and take mold both of our solutions into a plan of action.

Sometimes we let our self-esteem get in the way, and it makes the process so much more difficult than it should be.  Just because others aren't seeing eye-to-eye with us doesn't mean that our ideas or viewpoints are wrong - they are just different.  Once we put aside our ego we can really open ourselves up for change and growth.  We can learn so much from others, and they in turn can learn from us.  We stop all the ego-wars and start working together towards solutions that make our lives and our planet a much better place.

There is no reason to feel threatened of those with different ideas - we can actually form very close friendships from those who don't agree with us.  Once we throw out our negative biases and judgments, we find that sometimes oil and water do mix!

Accept that each of us live separate realities and begin opening your mind to the thoughts and viewpoints of others.  Accept that the world is full of unique people with different viewpoints and that while we may not always agree with them, we can still learn from them.  Throw out your limiting beliefs and start discovering the power of working together with others by sharing and understanding the different viewpoints of the world.

Thought for the Day

What Did You Do This Weekend?

Far too often we ask why we're doing something, or why we have to. Remember when we used to write "themes" in school, on things like "What I did on my summer vacation"?

I always tried to remember juicy details to write about, and it made the whole trip more exciting because I was trying to do and say things that would make good content for my theme. It's like I was practicing blogging already.

Wouldn't we enjoy our weekends more, and even our weekdays, if we acted as if we'd have to write a paper on them? What if we always lived as if our experiences were content for our blog?

What if we lived as if our lives were stories? Aren't they?
